Tell Me About it Thursday

I came across this blog a few weeks ago. Sandy is the mom of six children and has been the foster mom to many.
She has just started Tell Me About It Thursday. This weeks theme is Tell me something about your childhood/early years.

I thought this would be great for me because that is why I started this blog in the first place. I want to be honest, share my journey and figure out how to use my past to make me a better me so that I can be a better mother, Christian, wife, friend and blogger. :)

My childhood was not a pleasant one. My mother and father divorced when I was 6 but got remarried, which I did not know until a few years ago. That marriage did not last long and they were divorced again.

My childhood was full of violence toward my mom, my sister and myself.
My dad could be great but his mood could turn on a dime. You just never knew what to expect.

I didn't like myself or my life during my childhood. My mom was a single parent, my father never really helped, and we moved a lot.
My childhood was unstable to say the least.

But I do recall some good memories from my childhood.

My sister and I snuggling in bed as small children.

Running across the playground to my sister when I started Kindergarten, she had to stay with me in class the whole day to get me to calm down.

My grandfather taking us out to 'look for Santa' on Christmas Eve.

My fathers silly loud chuckle.

While I would not want to relive my childhood, it made me who I am and God has used it to help other children.

I wouldn't choose to go back but I wouldn't change it either.

Go to Sandy's blog and share some of your memories, good or bad, from your childhood.

That must be hard to relive some bad memories, but what a great list to share with us. I can relate...in some ways, but I have not lived through such hardships as you have. Love your new blog look, that picture is great! Have a wonderful weekend, and hope you are still doing well!

I grew up in a home kinda like yours,so I could relate. I agree I think we went through those things to make us stronger and better when it was our turn to be parents or to be there for someone else who is going through struggles. Thanks for joining me! I look forward to reading yours each week and getting to know you better:)

Sorry that your childhood was not great...but you where able to find some good memories and it did help shape you into the sweet person you are today. You may be able to help someone someday because of the pain you lived through as a child.
God has a purpose for everything.
Blessings sweet friend!
